Love
Mother & Child relationship – the Innate Essence
As a mother myself it is easy to talk about the love a mother feels for their child. The bonding between a mother and her child is probably the strongest of all relationships that are shared by mankind.
A child finds the typical emotional bond with its mother the very first time it sees/hears/feels her and experiences her mystifying touch. The bond between the two of them strengthens as they spend more and more time together. A mother’s love for her child is selfless. This motherly love is too true an asset to be replaced by anything else in this world. Sigmund Freud’s research says that a human being’s first encounter with the mother’s cherished love is during the act of breast-feeding. During infancy, the baby gets the nourishment they require from the mother, and is totally dependent upon the mother for everything. The mother thereby nurtures the child during the early years and caters to all needs of the child during infancy, adolescence and adulthood, and I can attest to the fact that a mother’s love and constant worries continues until her last breath.
Children usually keep their mothers as their confidante, the closest pal and the dearest person who can be trusted completely. In times of crisis it is a mother’s love and affection that a child craves. The understanding between a mother and child actually needs no clarification, as they share the same blood. It is generally the moms’ selfless and unconditional love that is the basic nurturing element for every child. Whether a child is ill or well, good or bad, a mother’s love for her child is enduring.
As a daughter I know my life has certainly been shaped by my mother’s unending love for me and this has hopefully been reflected in my mothering. You will note on the right hand column on this page an interesting booked titled “The Lives Our Mothers Leave Us” which talks about the mother/child bond and how it affects us during our lives and as mothers. A really compelling read.
