Here are 6 of my favourite time management techniques and top tips.

Click here to take control of your life and learn ways to thrive, not just survive.

Have you ever been to New York? or any other capital city for that matter? Did you notice how everyone is rushing around? They dont really seem to have a clue to where they are going.

Typical of major cities, laid back visitors or people holidaying always ask, “Where is everyone going? Actually, they should be asking “Why is everyone in such a hurry?” Of course, It’s all about time. He’s running late for lunch; she’s going to miss the train; OMG! we’ll be late for dinner!

I wonder if anyone ever stops to think about the amount of time wasted worrying about these little things! It never ceases to amaze me that people miss the fact, that proper planning is the key to saving time. It’s important to use good time management techniques to get through the day better, and to make the most of your life! There are only 24 hours in a day, so when you use your time wisely you will achieve much better results!

Here are some easy to apply time management techniques and top tips!

Preparation is the key!
I always make a daily list of things to do, appointments to keep, bills to pay and so on.
Do this every day and tick off the to-do’s as you do them.

Don’t Be Late – it will put your whole day out!
When you have an appointment, make sure you leave enough time to get there and always allow for delays. Then, even with traffic delays and phone call interruptions, you’ll still have plenty of time to be on time!

Priorities! – Put them first on the List.
When writing your daily to-do list, start with the most important item first. Then set your priorities straight whilst you complete your list.

Lose it! – Throw Perfectionism out the Window.
When you have an important date, wedding, whatever; don’t waste all your time on the little things! You know the old saying, “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” Don’t!
Its the same, if you are expecting visitors to your home, don’t freak out because your kitchen floor isn’t clean enough to eat off! (you have a table dont you?) No one really cares about that stuff – but you. Your friends are coming to see you, not the floor – and if they really are worried about the floor, hand them the mop!

Procrastination – bad! bad! bad!
Procrastination can paralyze you! You’ve got to be like ‘Nike’ – Just Do It!
This is where your list can help too! You know you have things to do! So, do them! Tick off the first job and move on – move forward with your day and your life! You will feel great when the day is done and all your to-do’s have a big tick next to them. What an achievement! Get the next day’s list ready and feel the momentum build.

Do you know how to say “No?” or “Sorry, I Can’t?”
Lets say you are working hard at work, but you must leave on right on time to pick up your kids. The boss asks “can you stay back an hour?” Now Im sure you worry about upsetting the boss but, Stop! Don’t! You’re a hard worker; you’re efficient, and you have always been there when your boss needed you. It’s time to think of your kids and you! All you need to say is “Sorry, I can’t today.”

Here are some ideas on how to focus on your goals and achieve more!

If somebody asked you “what’s your New Year’s resolution?” you might say something like “I want to exercise more often or lose weight” (they were mine!) The problem is, these are not goals, these are merely vague statements.  If you set a firm goal and state with certainty, “I will exercise 20 minutes every other day and I will lose 5 kilos in the next 5 months” then you are defining and setting goals that are now focused and therefor become achievable.

So, why dont we check out some techniques to show you how to focus on your goals and achieve more! You can have bigger and better results!

I get my best results by making lists! I have a list for pretty well everything!
Each and every morning I make a daily to-do list and tick off my jobs as I complete them. This is a really good way to focus on your goals and achieve more.

So, why dont you make a list?
Have you ever applied for a job, and been asked to describe your strengths and weaknesses?
For you to focus on your goals and achieve more, you need to list the goal, in order to achieve it! As well as your strengths and weaknesses, add a third column with an intended timeline.

Here is an example of how to do it – let’s say……you want to quit smoking. “Quit Smoking” will be your working title for your list/worksheet. In column one, write down the number of cigarettes you smoke every week. Column two will list what the cost of purchasing the cigarettes is, and column three will set the goal of how many you want to cut down by each week. Soon enough, the number of cigarettes versus the cost will lessen the figure in the third column.  This idea is one that is realistic, effective, and a good way of sending a subliminal message to your subconscious brain, to make sure you know the cost is by far outweighing the effect.

Another good idea is to prepare a chart!
There is an Australian TV series about a cattle ranch run by women, its called “McClouds Daughters”. I love this show and there is a good example to tell you about! One of the overseers has a chart on the wall in her bedroom.  It is her five-year plan and she says its the only way she can focus on her goals, because she is just so busy!  On this chart, she has listed everything from her educational pursuits; to her first jobs; right down to her eventual goals, and on the bottom is her number one aim – to own her own cattle farm.  The uniqueness of the chart was similar to a chart you might see that lists a family tree, you know the type? with branches everywhere?

Every goal that she achieved was ticked off. With the help of some thick black and red pens to underline the different achievements, she was making good headway and working towards her final goal.  In this case, through the list on her bedroom wall – art did imitate life!

Get the Edge!

Charts are an excellent way that you can really focus on your goals and measure your ability to meet those goals.  If you need to get extra education, you can add that onto your list or chart.  If you need an internship to get that prime spot in your ideal organization; put it on the chart aswell.

Charts are just like mind maps. Not only do they give direction, but these charts can keep us on the right track!  So many people take a wrong turn, and then find that they are lost and can’t work out how to get back. So, a chart is a great reminder of not only where we’ve been, but where we are going to!

Here’s something to think about……..
Yale University did a study that surveyed an entire graduating class.
They asked all the students who were about to go off into life, if they had written down their goals.
3% had and the other 97% either hadn’t written them down or didn’t have any goals!
20 years later, Yale re-interviewed the graduates.
The 3% had more than 10 times the income of the other 97% put together! (wow!)
Just goes to show that if you can focus on your goals, you can definately achieve more!

Goals!

The next time you want to reach a new goal in your life journey, write down the steps that will get you there!  Be very specific in your list or chart, and then use it as a roadmap to your future success.  Focus on your goals; memorize your list, and get the fantastic feeling of knowing you are on the way, on the right track. If you focus on your goals, you will definately achieve more, and feel better!
Good Luck!

Its about time you started Learning to Love Yourself!

Learning to love yourself can be a hard thing to do, especially when you have bad thoughts or a limiting belief and derogatory messages that play over and over in both your conscious and subconscious mind. A lot of these thoughts are instilled during your childhood, and unfortunately can be very debilitating for years to come! Its not a good thing, but are you aware that you are very likely to be suffering because of things your parents, teachers or friends etc said to you decades ago?

When you are a child and somebody tells you, you are no good, you believe them. When they said that you would never amount to anything, you believed them. Kids in particular believe things like, you’re stupid, retarded or weird! And the worst part is most of these ‘kids’ still believe this stuff to this very day – even if they’re not really consciously aware of these deep underlying beliefs.

Anyone suffering this anguish will be happy to know that you can do something about it and start learning to love yourself! Here are three really effective ways to start:

Click here, control your life and learn ways to thrive, not just survive.

Romancing the Stone? Nope! Romance yourself.

Think back and reminisce about the last love affair you had. Isn’t it right that in the beginning you and your loved one devoted a lot of time, care, attention and affection to each other? Didn’t you feel swept off your feet? Were you not blown away by the beauty of your partner? I bet he/she felt the same about you! One of the best ways to start learning to love yourself is to do the same thing, feel it but…. with yourself! Go on, treat yourself like a king or queen. Do all the things that make you feel the happiest. Hug yourself. Sweet-talk yourself. Buy yourself nice things. Spend quality time with yourself. Do it simply because you deserve it and you can!

What do you really think? Delve into your existing beliefs.
You might have suspected that you hold old and unhealthy thoughts in your head but do you actually know what they are? To be able to work out what the beliefs that are holding you back actually are, take yourself on an exploratory mission! Begin exploring your existing beliefs by writing them down on paper. Ask yourself questions like these: “My earliest memory of feeling stupid was . . .” “My mother always made me feel . . .” “My father always treated me like . . .” and so on.

The idea is to think back to an earlier time in your life and check out if you can pinpoint when and where your limiting thoughts got started. Then, rebut those thoughts. Are they still true? I doubt it if they were ever really true! Decide what you WANT to be true, and believe that instead! You can begin to replace the old negative beliefs by putting your focus on your new and improved beliefs. And better thought patterns!

I’m sure you have many good qualities! Check yourself out and emphasize your good qualities!
When you don’t feel good, your problems are on top of you or you have low self-esteem, you tend to focus on the things that are supposedly “wrong with you”. You dismiss the good things that you have going for you and things that are great about you! Turn this around NOW! Praise and encourage yourself when you are having a chat on the inside! (we all talk to ourselves!)

A big part of learning to love yourself is being nice to you!

When you do good, give yourself a pat on the back! When you achieve something, congratulate yourself! Say things like, “Wow, I’m really proud of myself for doing that” or “I’m so good, even though it was hard I did it!” Affirmations are great for when we are talking to ourselves! Say affirmations like these: “I am a valuable person. I have a lot to offer the world. I’m talented and successful.” Even a simple “heeeyyyy! lookin’ good” as you walk past a mirror is uplifting!

The more you do it, the more you’ll come to believe it!
I will write an article on the power of positive affirmations and post it here soon. I hope you have enjoyed today’s article and that you come back to visit me soon. This site is dedicated to making you feel better – so try out these ways in learning to love yourself and feel better now!

Have a great day!

Here are some great tips to get some stress relief right now!

I prefer not to do stress! but we all feel it at one time or another. Stress is statistically shown to be perhaps the number one cause of most health issues today. Here are 6 great tips to relieve stress in healthy and most effective ways.

* A problem shared is a problem halved! Try talking to your friends or family, or even a councillor about the problems you are currently facing. When you keep everything bottled up inside yourself, things will just get worse. See if you can find a support group with people experiencing similar challenges or problems.

* Sweat out that stress! Make sure you get regular exercise. You could go to the local park and walk for 20-30 minutes every other day. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress and tension and has a calming effect. I have recently joined a gym and am finding it very beneficial for both the waistline and my demeanor! Maybe you would enjoy a gym too! Go and do a free trial and see what you think.

* Yoga works great for some people too! Yoga practioners sit in a quiet room alone and begin special breathing exercises. I personally prefer pilates, its easy and very placid and lowers my stress levels instantly!

* Crank up the music! It is said that ‘music calms the savage beast’. Depending on how you feel, listen to some classical or instrumental music. Maybe some ocean or nature sounds. I love a good dance or sing to work out my stress ‘moments’ and find that loud thumpin’ beats can do the trick nicely!

* When trying to relieve stress, make sure you eat right! Healthy meals are an important part of diminishing your stress levels. Make sure you eat at least three meals a day, and be sure to avoid too much caffeine and sugar. Eat lots of fruit and veg and drink plenty of water. Doing this will make sure you break out less, which for me is a great stress reliever! (yay! Im lookin’ good!)

* Sleep deprivation is a killer! Not getting enough sleep is a big factor in stress development. Try to go to bed early once or twice a week. Seven or eight hours sleep a night will make so much difference.

Dealing with continual stress in our lives can be very difficult. Every day, something else will pull you in a different direction, while you try hard to accommodate others. The number one priority is to take care of yourself. You are the common thread that keeps your family together. If you are stressed, tired or rundown – you’ll be no good to anyone.
Get Rid of Stress with Anthony Robbins!

Make sure you take a break here and there! Get some retail therapy, buy a new outfit or powertool; go to a movie; do something you love but haven’t made time for in a while. The family and your daily jobs can surely do without you for one day! Catch up with yourself sometimes, everybody needs their own space.

Make sure you laugh! Have you had one of those times when you’ve laughed so hard, you cried? or your ribs and your face hurt so much, but you couldn’t stop laughing no matter what you did?
That was probably because you hadn’t had a really good laugh in so long, that it all came out at once! Did you know that the tension released through laughter is the best cure-all method for dealing with stress-related issues?

Its great when you know what stresses you out! Then you can do your best to avoid these stressful situations whenever possible. Take everything in your stride.
If you can’t finish a task, don’t worry about it. If dinner doesn’t turn out well, don’t stress – just order take away or go out! (yeah!)

I am a firm believer in Life being too short; and stress will reduce your life span even further! Nothing is more important than your state of mind. I read a thought provoking quote, but I cant remember who it was by. It went something like……… “No one can make you a victim without your consent.” So dont give your consent! Try hard not to let people, events, situations etc take over your life!

When you feel stress, make time for yourself and indulge in some of the tecniques above – you will feel better, I promise!
I hope you have enjoyed this article and will practice some or all of these great ways to relieve stress in your life and that you achieve your goal of stress relief!

Can we really use positive thinking to think ourselves into happiness?

Crazy as it may sound, you can use your mind power to create positive thoughts which will help you to acheive anything you want to! Can you really think yourself happy? The answer is a definate yes!

Read on to find some of the ways in which positive thinking can greatly benefit you in your journey to accomplishing all your dreams and finding real happiness.

Positive thinking will produce positive results. That makes sense – doesnt it?

You can either bitch and whinge about your current situation, or you can do something about it – the choice is yours and yours alone. You can be negative about an event or situation or alternatively you can be positive. President Lincoln once said, “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” If you really want to think yourself happy, then all you really need to do is make up your mind to do so.

Yes, I know it can be hard in todays world but it’s not impossible. It can be as simple as one person, one idea, one positive thought that gets the ball rolling. So, what can we do to make ourselves feel better and find some happiness?

* Find positive people to associate yourself with.
* Expose yourself to all the wonderful books, music and movies available.
* Find the one thing, the most important thing to you, and pursue it.
* Always show kindness and respect towards everyone you come across.
* Live life today as if you werent going to be around tomorrow.
* Use positive thinking and reinforcement whenever you can.
* Take advantage of the benefits of visualization to see the cup as half full not half empty.
* When you talk, do it in a happy and positive tone.
* Use exercise to free your mind of negative thinking.
* Make sure your expectations reflect your positive thinking and your great attitude.
* Allow peace of mind to encapsulate your whole being.
* Most importantly, become your own best friend.

Here is a great poem for you;

If you think you are beaten you are;
If you think you dare not, you don’t;
If you want to win but think you can’t;
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose you’re lost;
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will;
It’s all in a state of mind.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger and faster man.

Happiness doesnt just happen! Nope! I done believe that we are born happy! Our parents, upbringing and family instill happiness into us. Now, especially if you, like me, didn’t enjoy the benefits of a loving family upbringing – it is your responsibility to yourself to find happiness and make the rest of your life as good as it can possibly be! It is up to all of us, to find it, maintain it, share it, and build our lives around it. Positive thinking will benefit you enormously – Think happy, and you will be happy.

I truly wish you well with your positive thinking and ultimate happiness!
