Make a CommitmentTo Your Goals

How many times have you made a goal and didn’t accomplish it? Almost everyone has, probably at least a few times. It’s also common for people to go around and around in a circle of making goals and then quitting shortly after, never achieving anything.

There are a few reasons why people do this. For instance, not having a commitment to the goal is one big reason. If you don’t make a commitment to it, the goal may become unimportant quickly. It’s easier to just quit something than to work through obstacles.

By making a real commitment to your goal, you are more likely to accomplish it. Here are some tips on how to commit to your goals:

1) Make important goals- Sometimes people make goals for things they don’t really want. Before setting a goal, ask yourself if you really want it. Answer why you want it and what it will do for your life. What will change after you accomplish your goal? Is achieving this goal worth the efforts and work it will take? Write down your answers in a notebook so you can come back and remind yourself of your answers later on.

2) What happens if you quit?- If you decide to give up on your goal, would nothing happen, or would it be a huge deal? If you have to deal with negative consequences if you give up, you are more likely to keep working at it. Even if you have to make up major consequences to inspire you to stay motivated, that’s okay. An example would be, if you gave up, you would have to give up your favorite food for a month.

3)Renew your commitment- Everyday, make a new commitment to your goal. For the best results, you need to stay committed to your goals, that’s why should keep renewing your commitment, so it’s always on your mind. Every morning when you wake up, simply remind yourself of your goal and your commitment to it until you achieve your goal.

It’s up to you to achieve your goals, so you will need that determination to work on your goals and not give up. Procrastination is a bad habit you can conquer in order to have success. Procrastination hurts because you are always putting stuff off. By taking things a day at a time and by putting in effort each and every day you can make your goals happen.

In short, making a commitment to your goals can be as simple as being like Nike – Just Do It!

    Thanks Graham!

    Thats what I do to!
I usually put way too many goals on the page – Im not sure its humanly possible to achieve so much all in one day – but I try!

Usually though – some get moved on to the next day – its called prioritizing!
    Thanks for your comments.

  2. Another great post Kym.
I set my own goals for the day the evening before. I do everything I can to make sure I achieve them that day. if for some unforseeable reason I don’t achieve them, They then form part of my next days goals.
