Life Balance And How To Get A Bit Now
Posted by Maryann in Personal Development Articles, tags: life balanceHere are a few basic ways that you can start to achieve some Life Balance.
This will be the start of the Life Balance topic on this site and I will add to this series in the near future!
Are you stressed, frazzled and just have way too much going on? Well, I think you may be able to use some tips on life balance and how to get it!
So, what do you do or what can you do to find some life balance? It really doesn’t involve major changes. You don’t have to make any life altering decisions, run away from your family, or quit your job and move to a stranded island. The first step of balancing out your life begins within you, regardless of what is happening on the outside.
These three tips will start you off in the right direction to finding some life balance:
1) Time for yourself- When people are busy with life, they end up sacrificing personal time. Parents are busy taking care of children, people are focused on their careers and job obligations, studies, taking care of others, and taking care of the home and domestic responsibilities. You just cant find any time for yourself when this sort of stuff is happening. Always being busy with demands sucks all of your energy and makes you feel burdened and stressed out.
To get a balanced life, you have to find some time for yourself. For example, being able to go to a quiet room and curl up with a good book will give you some of that quiet time for yourself that you need. If you make time for yourself, you will find yourself having more energy and feeling better. This is also a great stress relief strategy – try it, you’ll like it.
2) Take care of yourself- Besides making some time just for yourself, you also need to be taking care of yourself. Are you getting a decent sleep every night? I crumble if I dont! Getting enough sleep is very important because not getting enough can have a negative effect on your mood and your health. Also make sure you are eating well, getting exercise, and being kind to yourself.
Its easy for things to fall in a heap when you are tired and stressed, and easy to make mountains out of molehills too. If you are taking good care of yourself and are well rested, then you will be able to handle things much better without having them turn into a crisis. When you take care of yourself, you feel better, have more energy, and restore your spirit.
3) Be flexible- Don’t hold onto rigid expectations because real life rarely turns out the way you had it all planned in your head. Its fine to have expectations, but make sure you are flexible when dealing with the outcomes. If you had a picture of how everything was supposed to be and expect everything to go according to plan, you will get stressed and upset when things go differently.
Having a flexible mind set will really help with stress. Make sure that your flexibility is alive and that you are capable of being happy even if things dont go exactly to plan. Just discard all preconceived notions of how you thought everything was supposed to be.
Making these changes within you will help a lot with balancing out your life and feeling better. Of course, you should also examine what’s going on in your outside life too and see what improvements and changes you can make. If someone is putting unrealistic pressures on you, for example a family member is expecting you to do way too much for them, you will also need to deal with that by having a straight forward talk with them and by telling them you are too stressed out with pressure.
Prioritize if you have too much to deal with and your energy is being zapped! There are many things that can wait so just do the things you must. Life Balance is a big topic to cover but I will be touching on several Life Balance topics over the next few weeks.
I think I have a great life balance going on and I would need to – with 7 kids, an offline business, 2 online businesses, university study, a big house and the list goes on!
